Lawyer: Former Bengals WR Henry trying for NFL team

CINCINNATI -- Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry will be released from court-ordered electronic monitoring and house arrest so he can try out for another NFL team.

Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Richard Bernat issued the ruling Tuesday, when Henry's attorney Perry Ancona said the player has an offer to try out for a team. Ancona did not identify the team.

The 24-year-old has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of assault and criminal damaging dating to March, when a University of Cincinnati student told police Henry punched him in the head and damaged his car.

Henry was suspended by the NFL for eight games last season because of earlier arrests. The Bengals released him last month.

Henry will be required to show the court a letter from the team he's trying out for before he's permitted to travel.

That would be so cool.

Henry would have a career total of 88 receptions and about 10 arrests.

Maybe we could have points in Fantasy football if your player is arrested also?

on a more serious note I hope we don't see this idiot back on a football field ever again.

He needs to get rid of his old possy, and get a new  possy made up of Drug Consulars, ex-cops, Prist and a Driver, the kid is a hell of a ball player, its just that he is a player off the field as well. he just needs a babysitter.

Screw the thug, I think he should be trying out for Vick's prison squad at this point.  Any team that hires him is promoting thug life.  Ban for life!!!

Is he looking for a new NFL team or a new legal team? Will the commish even allow him to play? Maybe the severe punishment in the NFL has grown soft. This guy needs the cold shoulder from the ENTIRE league BUT it's all about the money and fannies in the seats!

I feel sorry for which ever team is looking at picking up Henry.  He had so many chances here in Cincinnati and still couldn't change.  I will also be extremely pi$$ed off if the league doesn't suspend him like they did to Thurman.  In my opinion Henry has been way worse than Thurman ever was.  Whoever picks up Henry better have a lot of patience.

He would be a perfect fit with the rest of the knucklehead Raider Nation, and I love it. Gives Ja Russ another big target and for Pete's sake he's 24 years old and a helluva talent. Besides a change of scenery will do him a boat load of good. Half the people in Cincinnati don't know they are free. Hell, for half of us it didn't click until 25-26 years old. If Robert Downey Jr. can get chance after ...(more)

i agree that his a could talent and could easily go play slot for any team if not start for some, but his decisions off the field are just stupid! if he is even still allowed in the league he will be suspended for atleast a year, so i guess if a team picks him up they will have all that time to work on him. there are definantly some coaches out there that could get this guy straight.
