Cowboys report: Notes, quotes
--QB Tony Romo just missed qualifying for the U.S. Open, shooting a 75 on Wednesday. He needed to shoot a 71. Romo is not done with golf. He will play in the Colonial Pro Am on May 21 and another U.S. Open qualifier at Torrey Pines in June. --The Cowboys will be featured again on "Hard Knocks" a reality TV show on HBO produced by NFL Films following the day-to-day doings at training camp. The Cowboys were also featured on the show in 2002. The Cowboys certainly have a lot of storylines to follow. HBO will follow quarterback Tony Romo and superstar girlfriend Jessica Simpson, the daily soap opera that is Terrell Owens and the saga of suspended cornerback Pacman Jones -- if he is reinstated to the league for training camp. Romo is already preparing himself. When asked about the rumors about him and Simpson getting married, he replied: "I don't talk about my personal life. You have to watch Hard Knocks to get that stuff." Of course HBO sports president Ross Greenburg denied that the cameras will be focused on Romo and Simpson, saying "This is not the E television network." Romo isn't buying it. "I am trying to keep some stuff private, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen this year," he said. "It will be fun and I know that the Cowboys are a big draw for everyone nationally so it will be a good thing for fans. The rest of the NFC fans probably won't like it." --Judd Garrett will join the Cowboys scouting department as the assistant director of Pro Scouting. He will take the spot vacated when Brian Gaine left for the Miami Dolphins. Garrett was the tight ends coach in St. Louis the past two years but come to Dallas to be with family. He is the younger brother of offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and tight ends coach John Garrett. QUOTE TO NOTE Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved.
