Coach Mike Nolan admits that the 49ers do not have a true "ted" linebacker. The club is looking for someone to play the strong inside position in their 3-4 defense, alongside Patrick Willis. During the club's recent minicamp, Jeff Ulbrich, Dontarrious Thomas and rookie Larry Grant lined up at that position. But Nolan said it is too early to rule out Brandon Moore. Moore was used as Willis' backup. Moore replaced Ulbrich in the starting lineup in 2006, and played well. However, he fell out of favor last season. Veteran Derek Smith beat him out. Nolan now says that the competition was a lot closer than he thought at the time. The 49ers released Smith after the season.

The 49ers signed 11 undrafted free agents for their minicamp: receivers Cameron Colvin (Oregon) and Robert Jordan (California), tight end J.J. Finley (Oklahoma), offensive linemen John Booker (San Jose State) and Brian De La Puente (California), defensive end Louis Holmes (Arizona), linebackers Lewis Baker (Oklahoma), Shaun Richardson (Tennessee State), Lance Brandenburgh (Nebraska) and Ezra Butler (Nevada), and safety D.J. Parker (Virginia Tech). The club released Brandenburgh after the minicamp.

Just wanted to remind you guys of our 5 rings!!

"Yea but what have you done lately?"

We haven't done much as far success on the field but our future looks bright with the amount of talent we have on our team.

"Why don't you stop living in the past."

We don't live in the past, but the past

"He's a talented guy. But quarterback takes a lot of things. If you just said, height, weight, speed, arm strength, Alex would be the guy. But there is so much more than that. Tom Brady doesn't measure up to some guys." -- Nolan on 49ers q ...(more)

I've been reading through all the threads post draft, and it seems the hot topic is WR.  I'd like to change it up a bit to QB.  As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter who you have catching the ball if the guy throwing it can't get it to them.  Look at Tom Brady before last year, he never ...(more)

(POLL) I actually think we have the better D in are Div.We have a great linebacking core, that I would rank 7 among Nfl teams..Hopefully with the addition of either Spikes ,or Trotter would push us close to the top. Then two great CB's in Nate, and Walt gives us a pretty good pass defense .Addding SS Lewis, and either Roman ,or the rookie smith at the FS spot. Are pass D is shaping up pretty nice! Are D line s ...(more)
