Xavier Omon No Updates Ashton Youboty News The Bills listed the following players as inactive for Week 17 at Philadelphia: QB Gibran Hamdan (3rd QB), DB Donte Whitner (illness), RB Shaud Williams (coach's decision), WR Scott Mayle (coach's decision), DL Corey Mace (coach's decision), TE Ryan Neufeld (coach's decision). Chris Ellis No Updates John Wendling News Inactives for the Bills-Steelers Week 2 matchup include: Bills WR Josh Reed (thigh), RB Fred Jackson (listed as No. 3/emergency QB), DB Coy Wire, DB John Wendling, LB Keith Ellison, DL Ryan Denney and DL Copeland Bryan. For the Steelers, QB Brian St. Pierre (No. 3/emergency QB), WR Willie Reid, DB Ricardo Colclough, LB Marquis Cooper, RB Gary Russell and LB Arnold Harrison are among their inactives. Copeland Bryan News The Bills placed DL Copeland Bryan (knee) and LB Coy Wire (neck) on injured reserve, ending their seasons. Injury Knee Keith Ellison News Bills LB John DiGiorgio (six tackles), LB Keith Ellison (four tackles), DB Jim Leonhard (four tackles), DB Ashton Youboty (three tackles), DB Jabari Greer (three tackles) and DL Larry Triplett (two tackles, half a sack). Robert Royal News Buffalo TE Robert Royal started all 16 games for the Bills in 2007 and finished with 25 catches for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Royal is more of a blocking tight end for the Bills but was a decent red zone target at times for Buffalo. Coy Wire News Linebacker Coy Wire and cornerback Jerametrius Butler had their contracts terminated by the Bills on Wednesday. Wire, selected in the third-round of the 2002 draft, had a solid jack-of-all trades tenure in Buffalo, playing both safety and linebacker positions. He was also used on special teams. He had an injury-plagued season last year, and missed the final five games after sustaining a neck injury, which limited the feeling in his fingers. Wire also missed four games early in the season because of a sprained knee. Butler signed with the Bills on Sept. 25 to bolster the team's injury-depleted ranks. He finished with 13 tackles and three passes defended in seven games before missing five of the final six games with a calf injury. Injury Neck Brad Butler No Updates Kiwaukee Thomas News DB Kiwaukee Thomas' contract was terminated by the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, further depleting the team of experienced cornerbacks on the eve of free agency. An eight-year veteran, Thomas had one year left on a contract that was to pay him a base salary of $750,000 this season. He was credited with 37 tackles and one interception in nine games, including three starts, last season. Thomas missed the final seven games because of a groin injury. Injury Groin Shaud Williams News Safety Jim Leonhard and reserve running back Shaud Williams will become free agents on Friday after the Bills elected not to issue qualifying offers to retain their rights. George Wilson News Bills starting free safety George Wilson was placed on injured reserve Friday, ending his season less than a week after he broke two ribs. Wilson becomes Buffalo's fifth defensive regular and 14th player to be placed on the season-ending list this year. Coach Dick Jauron had been hoping that Wilson would be able to return should the Bills make the playoffs. Injury Ribs Daniel Watts No Updates Ryan Denney News Fifteen Buffalo Bills players are on injured reserve after backup defensive end Ryan Denney was placed on the season-ending list Wednesday. Denney is out after hurting his foot in an 8-0 loss at Cleveland Week 15. The Bills did not specify whether the injury was to Denney's left foot, which he broke during a preseason game in August and led to him missing the first seven games this season. Injury Foot Aaron Schobel News Buffalo DL Aaron Schobel had a down year in 2007. After getting a career-high 14 sacks in 2006, Schobel fell off with a career-low 6.5 sacks in 2007. He also added 57 tackles (45 solo) and forced five fumbles. Marcus Stroud News The Bills have acquired DT Marcus Stroud from Jacksonville and signed DT Spencer Johnson to a five-year deal. Buffalo will give the Jaguars two draft picks, a third and a fifth according to FOX Sports, in exchange for Stroud. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Stroud immediately solidifies what had been an undersized defensive line that was manhandled last season and unable to take the pressure off star pass-rushing defensive end Aaron Schobel. Anthony Thomas News Veteran running back Anthony Thomas had his contract terminated by the Bills on Wednesday. A seven-year NFL veteran and the league's rookie of the year in 2001, Thomas' numbers dwindled this season. Used mostly as a backup behind rookie first-round draft pick Marshawn Lynch, Thomas finished with career-lows in carries (36) and yards rushing (89). He also missed the final five games after tearing a calf muscle in a 36-14 loss at Jacksonville on Nov. 25. In his second year with the Bills, Thomas did have 15 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown, his first receiving in his NFL career. Injury Calf Alvin Bowen No Updates Tim Massaquoi News The Bills re-signed four players: tight end Tim Massaquoi, safety Dustin Fox, receiver Scott Mayle and defensive tackle Corey Mace. Demetrius Bell No Updates Reggie Corner No Updates Kennard Cox No Updates Al Wallace News Bills DE Al Wallace hurt his right shoulder in the first half of Buffalo's preseason finale, a 16-13 win at Detroit on Thursday, agent Jerrold Colton told The Associated Press. Colton described the injury as "significant," adding Wallace will miss a good portion of the season. Wallace was placed on Injured Reserve and will not be allowed to play for Buffalo this year, a sudden reversal after the seven-year veteran was expected to be the team's top reserve after he was signed by the Bills on Aug. 22. J.P. Losman News J.P. Losman doesn't appear to be going anywhere despite his request that the Bills trade him. Losman has one year left on his contract, but wants out of Buffalo after losing the starting quarterback job to rookie third-round pick Trent Edwards last season. It was the second time in three years Losman lost the No. 1 job. Unhappy with how he's been treated, Losman made his trade request public through his agent, Gary Wichard, in early January. Wichard stressed that his client would play out his contract, but added he didn't foresee any way Losman would re-sign with the Bills once he becomes a free agent. "J.P.'s on this roster and he's a part of this organization. And we anticipate J.P.'s going to be on this team," Bills COO Russ Brandon said. "He's here and that's how we're approaching it." Christian Gaddis No Updates Reggie Corner No Updates Teyo Johnson News Tight end Teyo Johnson signed with the Bills on Tuesday, attempting a comeback after missing all of last season with an injury. Selected by Oakland in the second round of the 2003 draft, Johnson has three years' NFL experience but has not played since being released by Arizona during the 2005 season. He has 26 catches for 288 yards and three touchdowns in 30 games. Johnson hurt his calf and was released by Denver in August after reaching an injury settlement with the team. Chris Kelsay News Buffalo DL Chris Kelsay had his first defensive touchdown in 2007 following an interception return. He also had his first career safety and recovered a fumble. Outside of that, Kelsay was limited with only 2.5 sacks and 43 tackles (34 solo). Jon Corto News The Buffalo Bills signed six players Thursday, including five who finished the season on the team's practice squad. Among the players re-signed were fullback Jonathan Evans, receiver Felton Huggins, cornerback E.J. Underwood and defensive end Shaun Nua. The Bills also signed defensive back Jon Corto, who spent part of the season on their practice squad.
