Gillies, a 6-foot-4, 194-pound center who turns 19 in February, was one of the team's final roster cuts in September. "It was unbelievable to be there that long," Gillies said. "I learned so much from the coaches, and the players really took me under their wing. It definitely benefited me. I know the Wild have a history of putting young prospects on the team.
