Capitals pick up Theodore: The Washington Capitals added free agent goalie Jose Theodore on Tuesday, signing the former Montreal and Colorado goalie to a two-year, $9 million contract. Theodore, the 2002 NHL MVP, was courted after the Capitals were unable to reach a deal with Cristobal Huet, who signed instead with the Chicago Blackhawks. (Updated 07/01/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Theodore went 28-21-3 last season with the Avalanche, including three shutouts, a 2.44 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Not bad stats for a guy who was a massive question mark coming into 2007-08 thanks to knee surgery. He is now a concrete No. 1 guy on a pretty decent team and should prove to be a very capable No. 2 Fantasy option this upcoming season. (Updated 07/01/2008).
