A great finish wasn't enough, although it offered lots of hope for the future because it was triggered by several youngsters. But Edmonton should contain some of its excitement because so much of the late run was fueled by incredible results in shootouts and overtime.
03/31/20081820
The kids here obviously do not know what it means to quit because Edmonton has gone 13-4-1 during the past five weeks, but it might not be enough to get them into playoffs.
03/24/20082021
Sam Gagner is getting lost in the shuffle when it comes to top rookies this season, but he has been effective for the Oilers, especially lately with his 18 points in his past 12 games.
03/17/20082127
Too little, too late for the Oilers, who can be serious spoilers down the stretch with the way they're playing. Edmonton has won nine of its past 11.
03/10/20082728
The young Oilers have staying power if nothing else. Edmonton has taken 22 games beyond regulation time, and has won a league-best 17. The Oilers have 33 wins overall.
03/03/20082828
The NHL's best shootout team is keeping its fans happy with wins in seven consecutive home games.
02/25/20082830
Rookie Sam Gagner continues to be one of their highlights this season. He's on a nine-game scoring streak with 12 points in that stretch.
02/18/20083028
Mathieu Garon has effectively taken over the No. 1 goaltending job, which means Dwayne Roloson could be backing up someplace else by next week.
02/11/20082829
A couple of wins for the Oilers is always good news in Edmonton, just not as good as the sale of team last week to a local businessman with deep ties to the community and lots of money.
02/04/20082929
Losing Shawn Horcoff for the season effectively ends Edmonton's long-shot playoff hopes.

10/01/200728-
GM Kevin Lowe didn't make any friends, just a determined attempt at making the Oilers a playoff contender again. It didn't work, but Lowe gets credit for trying.
