Official 2008 NBA Draft early entry list
PlayerSchoolYearPos.Ht.Wt.Agent?
A.J. AbramsTexasJr.G5-11155No
He'd be fabulous in an under-6-feet league. The NBA? Not so much.
Josh AkognonCS FullertonJr.G5-11185
It's too bad for Akognon that 5-foot-11 scorers aren't really in high demand.
Joe AlexanderWest VirginiaJr.F6-8230No
His stock is high so testing the waters makes sense. If he gets a first-round guarantee, it'll be hard to return to WVU.
Antonio AndersonMemphisJr.G6-6210No
If he just wants to earn a paycheck, this is an acceptable move. But the NBA isn't a realistic option right now.
Ryan AndersonCaliforniaSo.F6-10240No
Mike Montgomery probably hopes this guy changes his mind and returns to Cal.
Darrell ArthurKansasSo.F6-9230No
Arthur's stock has held steady, and this is as good a time as any to make the jump.
D.J. AugustinTexasSo.G5-11180Probable
He's no better than the fifth guard behind Rose, Bayless, Gordon and Mayo. Still, Augustin has proved himself time and again as a solid NBA prospect.
Derek BaileyProvidence ChristianG/F6-5
This is probably the last time Derek Bailey will ever see his name on the same list as Michael Beasley, so he should enjoy it.
Jerryd BaylessArizonaFr.G6-3199Yes
Bayless will be a serious candidate to go third behind Beasley and Rose.
Michael BeasleyKansas StateFr.F6-10235Yes
The drafting of Beasley will give somebody a 20-and-10 All-Star power forward.
Jason BennettTallahassee CCSo.C7-3265
He's big, but that's about all Bennett has going for him.
Keith BrumbaughHillsborough CCSo.G/F6-9210No
Here's hoping Brumbaugh fairs better than former JC product Qyntel Woods.
Chase BudingerArizonaSo.G6-7215No
Budinger can make a roster if he wants. But anything more than that will likely require another season of school.
Derrick CaracterLouisvilleSo.F6-8265Probable
God help the pro team that thinks it can change this guy.
Demarre CarrollMissouriJr.F6-8225No
He's a junior. He's testing. He'll be back at Missouri, most expect.
Charles CarterOklahoma BaptistJr.F6-10
It's hilarious that Charles Carter from Oklahoma Baptist declared while Blake Griffin from Oklahoma did not.
Josh CarterTexas A&MJr.G/F6-7200No
He's a better college player than his teammate (DeAndre Jordan), but not the same kind of NBA prospect.
Mario ChalmersKansasJr.G6-1190No
Assuming he's going out, he's going out in style, isn't he?
Lee CummardBYUJr.G6-7185No
He's just testing the process, because he can.
Chris Douglas-RobertsMemphisJr.G6-7200Probable
CDR had done all he could at Memphis, which is why leaving now is the wise move.
Robert DozierMemphisJr.F6-9215No
He's still 30 pounds from an NBA career ... and probably at least a year.
Wayne EllingtonNorth CarolinaSo.G6-4200No
No self-respecting Tar Heel would enter early to be a second-round pick, would he?
Alonzo GeeAlabamaJr.F6-6220No
Gee is just testing the waters unless he's being silly.
C.J. GilesOregon StateJr.F6-10225Probable
He was essentially kicked off two college teams, and that can't be considered a good sign.
Eric GordonIndianaFr.G6-4220Yes
It'll be a shock if Gordon isn't a high-volume scorer at the NBA level.
Jamont GordonMississippi StateJr.G6-4185
Gordon wasn't going to improve his stock in college. Thus, this is a reasonable move.
Paul Graham IIIFlorida AtlanticJr.G/F6-5215No
Green should get back to school, ASAP.
Danny GreenNorth CarolinaJr.G/F6-5215No
Green should get back to school, ASAP.
Donte GreeneSyracuseFr.F6-11225No
In terms of potential, Greene is a lottery pick.
Kalen GrimesMissouriJr.F6-9250
Grimes once smashed a man's face with the butt of a shotgun, but that's not really a usable NBA skill.
Richard HendrixAlabamaJr.F6-8260No
A lot of people wonder whether Hendrix's game will translate to the NBA, and those people make a fair point.
J.J. HicksonNC StateFr.F6-9235No
Nobody was in more of a hurry to get to the NBA than this guy.
George HillIUPUIJr.G6-2180No
Hill led IUPUI to 26 wins this past season, and he should try to do that again before trying to do this.
Lester HudsonUT-MartinJr.G6-3190No
If Hudson makes it -- after not graduating high school -- it'll make a heckuva story.
Reggie HuffmanAlabama-BirminghamJr.F6-7216No
His last name is Huffman and he graduated from Huffman High, and what are the odds of that happening?
Stefon JacksonUTEPJr.G6-5185No
He's an NBA-type of talent, but probably not right now.
Shawn JamesDuquesneJr.F6-10225Yes
James is intriguing, but probably not quite ready to make this jump.
Davon JeffersonUSCFr.F6-8215Probable
Jefferson never had any business in a college classroom. Now he'll never have to enter one again.
DeAndre JordanTexas A&MFr.C7-0255No
People think Jordan is going a year too early, but unless he's sure he'll mature he should remain in the draft and get rich before he gets exposed.
Kosta KoufosOhio StateFr.C7-0265No
OSU would've been fabulous with Koufos and B.J. Mullens. Alas, it's doubtful Koufos will return to school to make it happen.
Ty LawsonNorth CarolinaSo.G5-11195No
This is a strong year for point guards, which is why Lawson might end up back at UNC.
Brook LopezStanfordSo.F/C7-0260Yes
He's the safest pick at No. 3, but can he ever be an All-Star?
Robin LopezStanfordSo.F/C7-0255Yes
He's not his brother, but he's still pretty good.
Kevin LoveUCLAFr.F6-10270No
Those who thought Love wouldn't make a good pro will be proved wrong.
O.J. MayoUSCFr.G6-5200Yes
The guess here is that Mayo will be a better pro than college player.
Luc Richard Mbah a MouteUCLAJr.F6-8232No
If he returns to UCLA he'll have the chance to make a fourth Final Four.
JaVale McGeeNevadaSo.C7-0237Yes
Outside of the Italian, this is probably the most unknown among the projected Top 15 picks.
Jerel McNealMarquetteJr.G6-3200No
The guess here is that McNeal will be back in school to help Buzz Williams handle the post-Crean era.
Kojo MensahDuquesneJr.G6-1180Yes
Mensah hasn't really progressed as a player since being shot in 2006.
Jeremy PargoGonzagaJr.G6-2219No
He should go back to Gonzaga, and Gonzaga should be really good.
Courtney PigramEast Tennessee St.Jr.G6-1195No
A 6-foot-1 guard has to shoot better than 33.2 percent from 3-point range to be taken seriously at this level.
Trent PlaistedBYUJr.F/C6-11245Yes
The smart money has Plaisted joining Cummard back at BYU next season.
Bruce PriceTennessee St.Jr.G6-1190No
Scoring points for a bad team in a bad league isn't what makes somebody ready for the NBA.
Anthony RandolphLSUFr.F6-11220Yes
The average fan didn't see Randolph enough this season to know him, but scouts are very intrigued.
John RiekWinchendon (Mass.)Post-GradC7-2240
Riek is extremely raw, but he's worth a flyer for some team based on potential alone.
Derrick RoseMemphisFr.G6-3205Probable
An NBA executive said Rose will join Chris Paul and Deron Williams as the best point guards in the world in three years, and that's probably true.
Brandon RushKansasJr.G6-6210Yes
That torn ACL was a blessing, it turns out.
Walter SharpeAlabama-BirminghamSo.F6-9245
Sharpe has no interest in school, so he might as well disappear into some silly league somewhere.
Josh ShippUCLAJr.G/F6-5220No
Because there's no harm in testing, he's testing.
Kiwan SmithRedlands CCSo.G/F6-7200
He has a history of terrible academics, so Smith's decision to avoid more school isn't a surprise.
Marreese SpeightsFloridaSo.F6-10245No
From a physical standpoint, Speights is a top 20 pick.
Ronald SteeleAlabamaJr.G6-1191No
Nobody should be surprised if Steele ends up on the injured reserve list at the NBA Predraft Camp.
Robert VadenUABJr.G6-5225No
Assuming he returns to UAB, the Blazers could make C-USA a two-bid league.
Lorenzo WadeSan Diego StateJr.F6-6225No
Wings this size who can't shoot aren't typically great prospects.
Bill WalkerKansas StateFr.F6-6220No
He would've been a lottery pick out of high school. Now he's a borderline first-rounder.
Gordon WattHouston BaptistJr.F6-6225
Watt started his career at Purdue, and it'd be stupid to end it like this.
Russell WestbrookUCLASo.G6-3190No
Westbrook blossomed into a guaranteed top 20 pick this season.
Raymond WrightArkansas-MonticelloJr.F6-9220No
Just another junior working the system.
