All of a sudden, we have the type of Yankees-Red Sox series everyone has gotten used to in the Bronx and Boston.
While the rivalry may never again approach the drama and high stakes of 2003 and 2004, the Yankees' resurgence after struggling could help kick-start it.
The Yankees enter Fenway just three games back of the Red Sox and Rays, who are tied for first in the AL East.
The Sox should welcome back David Ortiz from injury, but they might be missing Manny Ramirez, which would be a break for the Yankees.
Either way, there will surely be plenty of intensity as the teams battle each other again for playoff contention. The sense earlier this season that the Yankees might not be capable of such a feat may rekindle a little of the lost luster.
