Celtics report: Notes, quotes
--Sam Cassell saved himself a phone call. The Celtics guard was upset about the flagrant 1 foul called on him in Game 1 against the Cavs (he caught LeBron James on a drive, and James wound up with a cut in his mouth). He was prepared to let league officials know of his displeasure, but the flagrant was rescinded before he could call. Officials told Danny Ainge the original call did not warrant the penalty. The Cavs did get an extra possession out of the call (a flagrant 1 is two shots and the ball out of bounds), but Joe Smith missed on the ensuing play. --Before Saturday night, Rajon Rondo was having a very good postseason, especially for a second-year point guard. According to Paul Pierce, it's because his young teammate doesn't know any better. "He really doesn't know what to expect, so he doesn't know what he's got to be nervous about," said Pierce with a smile. "He's going in there kind of wide-eyed and just playing basketball. I think that's the way I was in my first playoffs." QUOTE TO NOTE Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. |
