"This racket is my No. 1 racket," he said. "If I have a difficult time, I need to think about this racket."

Davydenko also needs to think about making a run at the No. 1 spot. With Roger Federer struggling to start the season, the top of men's tennis is wide open for the first time in years. And the thought is a new challenger to the throne will come from Nadal, Roddick and No. 3 Novak Djokovic.
But Nadal said Davydenko is good enough to be mentioned with that group.
"He's a big player," Nadal said. "But the people and (media) like to write more about Roger, about me, about Djokovic, about Roddick. But one player can't go three years (in the top 5) or this year going to be the fourth without being a very, very good player. So the people outside tennis can think in a different way about Nikolay, but we know he's a very, very good player."
Davydenko, for his part, still knows Federer is No. 1. And Davydenko expect Federer to stay there for a while, especially since he's 0-11 against the Swiss star. So even though he had a breakthrough against Roddick and Nadal, that's still another barrier Davydenko needs to break.
But Davydenko didn't have to think about Federer on Sunday. He didn't have to worry about the betting allegation, either.
All he had to do was focus on his victory and enjoy the moment. As far as what happens next for him, all bets are off.
