The backdoor cover gives me pause, but BOS was an elite first half team at home all season, they have been grabbing hold of these games against the wounded Heat quickly and I project them to take a double-digit lead into the half. Porzingis wasn't scoring much anyway, and Al Horford will help defensively against Bam. Boston smells blood and the Heat's injuries are chronic and outside of a flurry in Game 2 they haven't shot nearly good enough from the outside to trouble the Celtics
If you take out the horrible inning in Korea, the Dodgers starter has been pretty damn good. Could be more efficient but his stuff is nasty and the Snakes haven't hit the ball like I thought they would and I like some of these righty Dodgers bats against Jordan Montgomery - a high-end starter who is still trying to make up for all the lost time as a free agent during spring training
I'm not in love with this price, but I do think the Oilers ML is the play here. The Kings went on a nice run during the regular season and do a nice job of keeping the puck out of their own net. Nonetheless, the Oilers looked primed for a run this season. I expect McDavid and his boys to end this series at home on Wednesday.
Stubborn, or sticking to my guns? I'm going back to the over despite the 1-0 slugfest we saw on Monday. 13 of the last 17 meetings in the playoffs between these two has reached this 6 number, and games in Edmonton have averaged 8.0 goals in the eight games that were not a Game 7.
Justin Verlander looks just fine at age 41 for Houston, while Cleveland's Triston McKenzie (4.91 ERA) has seen a big drop in velo since his last fully healthy 2022 season. And the bullpen behind him is super-thin as the Guardians' top three high-leverage guys led by closer Emmanuel Clase have pitched three of the past four days so are probably all unavailable. Thus, we will avoid first five.
Surprising decision by Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy to bench No. 1 goalie Logan Thompson tonight for Adin Hill, the 2023 playoff hero. Thompson has been very good in this series with a 2.35 GAA and .921 SV but the Knights have dropped the past two. Partly due to injury/illness and also obviously due to Thompson, Hill has played in only three of the Knights' last 16 contests (last on April 18) in which he was 1-2 with a 3.68 GAA. Seems like a panic decision and at some point, the home team is winning a game. Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger has allowed exactly two goals in the past three games and if he does again, I'll take my chances.
Season trends go out the window here. There are only so many players left on Miami's roster who can score the basketball. He only played 16 minutes in Game 4 and had 3 points, but aside from that he's eclipsed this over in every other game. He should see at least 25 minutes tonight, and in that case the over is 10-4. The Sportsline Model makes the number 11.
The Guardians have played three straight extra-innings games, using six relievers for each of the last two. Even with an off-day sandwiched between, that's a lot of work for the bullpen, and they'll need Triston McKenzie to give them at least five innings today. The Astros have an above average offense but just played a pair of games in Mexico City and then followed an off-day with an extra-innings affair, and it's possible the schedule catches up to them today. Expect the Guardians to emphasize McKenzie throwing strikes to give them length in this matchup, which will help combat the primary reason for his short outings: a 6.95 BB/9 rate.
The volume is there for PJ Washington. We've fell just short of this two games in a row and it's giving us the opportunity for a buy low spot. Washington is 1 for 9 from deep in his past two games, with the good news being he's put up 8 attempts. Dallas needs a better performance from him tonight to stay in this game, especially with a not 100% Luka. The Model makes the number 12.
